Religious Education

At our school, we follow the Emmanuel Project, an engaging and inspiring Religious Education curriculum used across Suffolk primary schools. It has been created by the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich to help children learn about a wide range of religions, beliefs, and worldviews in a thoughtful, balanced, and ageappropriate way.

The Emmanuel Project helps children to:

  • Learn about different religions and worldviews including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Humanism and Sikhi.

  • Understand how beliefs shape the lives of individuals and communities.

  • Ask big questions, explore ideas, and develop their own thinking.

  • Respect and appreciate diversity, preparing them for life in a multicultural world.

Each unit begins with a key enquiry question, encouraging children to investigate, reflect, discuss and draw conclusions. Lessons are practical, engaging and often include stories, pictures, artefacts, videos, and reallife examples.

Our aim is to ensure that every child develops:

  • Knowledge about major world religions

  • Understanding of others’ beliefs

  • Respect, empathy and critical thinking

The Emmanuel Project helps us build a caring, inclusive school community where children learn to value one another and the wider world.
