Early Years and Key Stage 1

Early Years: Nursery

Nursery children may start in the term after their third birthday. Sessions run from 8.40am - 11.40am

All learning takes place both inside and outside. We share an extensive outside area with the Reception class, where the children play and learn from each other.

Early Years: Reception

Children start Reception class in the academic year they are five years old and have a full school day. The EYFS Foundation Stage guidance is followed, often through structured play or practical experiences which build upon existing skills and interests.

The Early Years Foundation Stage incorporates Nursery and Reception and is a distinct phase with its own early learning goals. Most children should be able to reach the early learning goals by the end of the foundation stage . This will prepare them for work on the national curriculum at key stage 1.

We plan our exciting and engaging curriculum using the principles of the government's Early Years Foundation Stage ensuring purposeful, fun and exciting play occurs across all the areas of learning.
